PACKING RECOMMENDATIONS

Packing can be physically and mentally taxing. Don't forget to use an equipment checklist to reduce the mental stress and chances of forgetting any gear. Below are some tips and tricks to pack safely, efficiently, and for quick access.

ERGONOMICS

When packing, unpacking, and assembling gear make sure your moving safely! Maintain safe body mechanics and ergonomics to reduce risk of injury or fall.

  • Pick up items by bending knees to a 90 degree angle

  • Brace both hands on the side of the item with elbows bent at a 45-90 degree angle

  • Stand straight up while holding item

  • Bring item in towards your stomach to not put strain on your arms and back

  • Try to pick up items from hip height and not the ground if possible

PUZZLING GEAR INTO THE CAR

Figuring out where to put items into the vehicle to make everything fit can be difficult! Let me give you a few tips and tricks:

1. Set all your gear out to visualize where items could go in the car

2. Teamwork makes the dream work! Have friends or family help you pack the car.

3. Place heaver items on the bottom to reduce risk of injury to reaching and pulling from top of pile

4. Put essential items on top for quick access (ex. tent, tarp, lighting, travel food/supplies, etc.)

5. Give yourself time for trial and error! Take your time to pack how you want safely
